Hey everyone. October recap below.
October Summary:
October was our best month yet. We had our highest number of NYC pickleball joins, most monthly joins per user, best game fill rate, and lowest game cancellation rate. We also grew MRR by 72% M/M.
Membership interest among NYC pickleball players remains strong and retention and engagement are holding up nicely. Growth is the name of the game right now and so we are working hard to grow membership.
Separately, we are in the process of signing a few large rental contracts with pickleball trainers (need space for lessons) and a youth soccer program who is interested in a gym space we have permits for.
In NYC specifically, access to private space is a commodity. We are in a great and flexible position in regards to utilizing and renting out private space given our strong relationships with NYC schools and the time we’ve spent creating pickleball courts in open spaces all around Manhattan.
Key Stats - 2nd Month of Memberships
Number of Member Game Joins*: 481 (+26% M/M)
Ratio of member to non-member game joins: 61% members, 39% non members (vs 47% members, 53% non members last month)
Conquer will be a membership only platform soon.
Number of Members: 113 (vs 71 last month)
MRR: $6.3K (+72% M/M)
Total Revenue: $25K (+19% M/M)
Includes app transactions, memberships, and rentals.
Lowlights:
Email marketing and SMS taking slightly longer than expected. We see these as a very strong driver of membership conversion.
We are still looking for a Tik Tok creator to help grow our organic socials. The search has been slow and candidates have been unresponsive.
Highlights:
Added 2 new strategic pickleball locations (Dumbo, BK and Ridgewood, Queens).
Launched new plans (with a price increase) and steadily grew memberships.
Hired freelancer and launched paid marketing on the last day of the month (Google and Meta Ads).
Made strong development progress on tracking in app events for ads, and allowing users to move up their billing cycle (or upgrade) when they run out of credits.
What Does November Look Like:
Test and iterate paid marketing efforts to increase the speed of user acquisition.
Launch SMS marketing and broadcast emails with improved delivery.
Add several new pickleball locations in Manhattan, BK, and Queens.
Make progress getting the Android app in the same state as iOS.
Take advantage of strong interest for indoor pickleball - infiltrate Facebook, MeetUp, and large group chats.
Find Tik Tok creator.
Continue posting cadence on social and work with branding agency to carry out brand vision.
Asks:
I’m looking for recommendations for very cheap overseas talent. We want them to DM players on various social platforms that are looking to play pickleball. We could also use some help with customer support.
